Club Fitting

The Club Shack will build you a set of clubs that fits your swing.

Our goal is to maximize your potential for a higher percentage of solid hits by building clubs that fit you. This is not something we charge extra for. This is an obligation we owe you for trusting us to build your clubs.

Every golfer has a unique swing and we will spend the time with you to determine what factors need to be considered when we construct your clubs.

Professionals will agree, that the most important characteristic of a good swing is the golfers posture. How you stand affects every part of the swing. Posture and balance are essential to making solid contact with the ball.

Distance is a result of solid contact in the middle of the club head, not the result of brute force. We have all felt it at sometime or other, that perfect hit, where you hardly noticed the ball being struck.

The fitting process at The Club Shack requires a personal interview and ball striking session with your current clubs. It will take about 30 minutes. In that time we will;

We believe that golfers of all abilities can benefit from clubs that fit them properly. While it is possible to play golf with any set of clubs, it is better to have them fitted to you. Your posture will be better and your contact will be more consistent.
  • Observe your posture ( what amount of flex or bend you put into your stance)
  • Take some measurements from your wrist to the floor (to assess shaft lengths)
  • Measure your hand size ( to determine what size grip you need)
  • Evaluate your swing speed (to gauge shaft flex possibilities)
  • Evaluate your ball striking (check the lie variables)
  • During this process, we may make suggestions regarding your swing. We may even suggest that lessons would be more appropriate than clubs.

Below are some charts that indicate industry standards of measurements. These charts are helpful as a guide and will generalize the measurements needed to insure a good club fit. It is always advisable to have a club maker fit you, to complete the process. There are more factors than just these to fitting a golf club to your swing.

Fitting Tip

If the ball flight is left. Use stiffer shaft
Have a lie angle that is too upright
Check club length and grip size

If ball flight is right. Use softer flex shaft
Have a lie angle that is too flat
Check club length and grip size

If ball flight is too high. Decrease loft angle
Use a stiffer flex shaft
Check for proper club length
Check head design

If ball flight is too low. Increase loft angle
Use a softer flex shaft
Check for proper club length
Check head design

If there is inconsistent ball flight... Use a stiffer shaft
Check total weight of club - it might be too light
Use softer flex shaft
Check club length
Check lie angle

If the feel or sound is not solid at impact... Check if Swingweight is too light
Check total weight of the club - it might be too light
